Resolution Setting 2026 Parcel Fee

WHEREAS, the Louisiana State Legislature adopted Act 409 during the Regular Session of 2024 (R.S. 33:9091.28, renumbered R.S. 33:9091.29), which created the Tall Timbers Crime Prevention and Improvement District (hereinafter referred to as "District"), and authorized the City Council of New Orleans to levy and collect a parcel fee, after same was approved by a vote of the people of the District, upon each parcel of land located within the District;

WHEREAS, Act 409 of the Regular Session of 2024 provides that the parcel fee to be levied and collected on each parcel located within the District shall not exceed (a) two hundred thirty dollars per year per parcel for the first two years; and (b) two hundred fifty dollars per year per parcel for the third and any subsequent year in which the fee is collected;

WHEREAS Act 409 of the Regular Session of 2024 provides that the fee shall be imposed only after the question of its imposition has been approved by a majority of the registered voters of the District who vote on the proposition at an election held for that purpose in accordance with the Louisiana Election Code; and

WHEREAS on November 15, 2025, a majority of the registered voters of the District who vote on the proposition at an election held for that purpose in accordance with the Louisiana Election Code approved the proposition;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners for the Tall Timbers Crime Prevention and Improvement District hereby requests that the City Council of New Orleans place a parcel fee on each parcel of land located within the District, for a period commencing on January 1, 2026, and ending on December 31, 2026, in an amount of two hundred thirty ($230.00) dollars per parcel.
